I have the pleasure of including this magnificent antique four poster bed it
is carved mahogany and is of an exceptional quality dating around 1840 mid
Victorian. It has been acquired from a prominent palace in India which goes some
way to explain the amazing condition. The outside measurements of this four
poster is 6’ wide , 7’ in length and 8’ 6” in height . It has a
wonderful patina and rich colour and primarily needs a thorough cleaning
followed by nothing more than a wax polish coat. Once restored in this process
it would look just stunning - this work will be done professionally before
shipping to the buyer. The fabulous crest depicting a lion and leopard below a crown is the family
crest of the previous owners of the bed. Below the crest is a beautifully carved foliate scrollwork head board panel
flanked on either side by a recumbent naked female figure - a relatively rare
addition and always a very popular feature in these beds! Finally above the impressive scroll feet there are the two spectacularly
carved caryatid angels guarding the foot board of the bed, an extraordinary
piece of craftsmanship. Every inch of this bed is opulent, it is very difficult to come across such
beds these days and this is certainly one of a kind and the most remarkable bed

condition report- Wonderful carving on this particular bed, in very good original condition with good patina and rich colouring needing very little restoration only cleaning. It has the usual signs signs of age but this bed has been well cared for over the last 160 years.
