Four poster bed antique, Colonial four poster bed (Ref: 10)
Our
third colonial four poster bed dating from the early 1800s all original, this one
has a very unusual and probably unique head board design depicting the imperial
state crown of the British empire flanked by thistles - the bed could possibly
have been the property of an officer from a Scottish regiment.
This fourposter is carved from very hardwood probably mahogany or rosewood in the Victorian style demanded
by Queen Victoria's high ranking officers.
The out side dimensions of this bed are 97 inches high, 71 inches wide at
cornice level 70 inch at mattress level.90 inches long.
This four poster bed is likely to take a mattress 5 foot 6 wide x 6 foot 6 long

condition report- Excellent sturdy condition this four poster is all original with the usual signs signs of age. As with all these beds restoration is kept to a minimum - careful cleaning and polishing conserving the beautiful patina and giving a natural sheen.
